Meet your teacher

I Grew up in a musical family and started my own musical journey at the age of 4. Now 50 years later, I'm offering music lessons, bringing decades of experience as a performing singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, with multiple cd releases and active participation in a local band that performs regularly around Central Texas, including appearances at Austin’s legendary Cactus Cafe.

How My Lessons Work

My teaching style is highly interactive and designed to keep students engaged. Rather than relying on method books, I incorporate music that students already love. Together we analyze songs, discover what makes them work, and learn how to recreate them at a level appropriate to each student’s current skills. As students progress, so does the depth of the material, while also building strong foundations in music reading, theory, technique, and musicianship.

I teach children, teens, and adults, and I strive to make learning music both enjoyable and meaningful.

I offer lessons in:

• Piano
• Guitar
• Concert Ukulele
• Baritone Ukulele
• Music Reading
• Music Theory
• Composition & Songwriting
• Music Production

Reach out if you would like to discuss lessons for yourself or your child today!

Cece is an amazing music teacher. Her attention and calmness has been instrumental to our little one enjoying learning the piano. Our daughter is always happy after every lesson and genuinely looks forward to her next lesson. We initially worried that our little one would lose interest of learning the piano, but with Cece she is always more interested and excited after every lesson.

Cece is great with adult instruction too! I took up guitar at age 44 and had zero musical experience before that. A few years later, I decided I wanted to learn more than YouTube and banging around on my own could teach me, so I went to Cece. I'd realized I needed individual instruction, not just the kind of anonymous, one-size-fits all instruction that you’ll get without a teacher. I had questions about ME and MY style and MY background for MY specific situation that only a knowledgeable instructor would be able to answer for me.

Cece said that she’d be happy to design a curriculum for me, and at first that’s how we worked. But when I then wanted to shift gears and try new things that weren’t on the original menu, she smoothly pivoted and began tailoring every single lesson to whatever was on my mind that day or that month. She’d listen to and watch my progress since last time, answer my questions, make suggestions, teach me theory and techniques (to whatever degree I had an appetite for either), and then she’d give me something to work on for the next session. It was a bespoke approach made just for me — something I very much appreciated and needed as an adult learner … and that other teachers can’t often do when their students are older than what they do for kids. Cece has been there as much or as little as I need her for a given skill — always flexible, friendly, and responsive!

Kids who study music with Cece Yentzen are very lucky. They get access to a lifelong musician with an approach to teaching that's personalized for each and every student... One big advantage of studying with Cece is that she teaches multiple instruments, as well as music theory, music reading, and songwriting. This allows young students like my daughter to explore many different aspects of music education, if they wish. Another big advantage is Cece herself. She is kind, fun, intelligent and interested in her students. If your child studies with Cece you'll know he/she is with a wonderful person and a good influence.

My 2 sons started with Ms. Cece a year ago and it has been a great experience for them; not only musically but from a formative standpoint. Music and piano are rounding out their activities in a very sport-centric town, and with Ms. Cece, they are learning a ton. They are progressively getting better and, more importantly, are having a really fun time. I highly recommend.

Great teacher for our elementary aged child! Cece does a wonderful job of empowering her students and challenging them to do their best.

We are so lucky to have found Cece as a piano teacher for our 6-year-old daughter. Cece individualizes her lessons with our daughter based on personal strengths and our daughter's preferences. They have fun and create!  This level of devotion and care for her students inspires passion for music and a drive to continue learning. This morning our daughter asked if she could go to piano every day!
